Dental Checkups & Dental Cleaning Sydney

At The TLC Dentist, we firmly believe that prevention is the key to optimal dental health! By scheduling regular 6-month check-ups, our patients significantly reduce the likelihood of requiring costly dental treatments. Don’t wait until discomfort strikes – visit us proactively to safeguard and enhance your dental well-being!

Who requires a regular checkup?

Ideally, adults and children should have a dental checkup once every six months. At this checkup, the dentist will examine your gums and teeth. These exams are critical for helping protect your oral health.

Problems with your teeth or gums can be painful or serious if you don’t promptly treat them. Our staff can diagnose dental issues and treat them before they worsen.

Why do you need a regular checkup?

Regular dental checkups and cleanings help to keep your gums and teeth healthy. This professional dental cleaning happens at routine dental care appointments. Even if you take good care of your teeth at home, you can benefit from a checkup and cleaning with a dentist once or twice a year.

  • Early detection of serious dental problems & preventative care
  • Overall hygiene & health maintenance
  • Cost saving

What happens during your first visit?

Attending the Dentist for routine check-ups helps prevent serious dental problems, by catching minor issues before they require major work. We will let you know whether any treatment is required during your appointment.

Regardless of how well you are cleaning at home it is important for your dental practitioner to take X-Rays and give you a professional clean, to remove any hard build-up that your toothbrush is unable to remove.

When all of your dental concerns and desires are met, you will leave with a welcome gift pack as a thank you for choosing The TLC Dentist.

The benefits of a regular checkup

Early detection of dental problems

Regular check-ups can help your dentist detect any dental problems early on before they become more serious and potentially require more invasive treatment.

Education and advice

Your dentist can provide you with personalised advice on how to improve your oral hygiene habits, including brushing and flossing techniques, and recommend products to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Preventative care

Your dentist will perform a professional cleaning during your check-up, which removes plaque and tartar buildup that can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

Overall health

Regular dental check-ups can also have a positive impact on your overall health. Studies have shown a link between oral health and systemic health issues such as heart disease and diabetes.

Oral cancer screening

During your check-up, your dentist will also screen you for oral cancer. Early detection of oral cancer can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment.

Cost savings

Regular check-ups can help you avoid more costly and invasive dental procedures down the road, potentially saving you money in the long run.

What Are Dental Checkups and Cleanings?

Regular dental checkups and cleanings help to keep your gums and teeth healthy. This professional dental cleaning happens at routine dental care appointments. Even if you take good care of your teeth at home, you can benefit from a checkup and cleaning with a dentist once or twice a year.

At a dental cleaning appointment, our dental hygienists will perform routine cleanings. These sessions will help remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and gums to prevent inflammation, cavity formation and gingivitis. If you have gum disease, we can perform dental scaling below the gum line to remove plaque buildup. At the end of the exam, we offer dental polishing services to help prevent tooth decay.

Services We Offer

When you search for “dental cleaning near me,” you want a friendly and knowledgeable office that offers a range of services. Our clients know that we can help with several dental services, including the following:

General Dentistry

Dental tartar can lead to gum inflammation and tenderness, which can eventually become gingivitis if you don’t visit a general dental office. Our general dentistry services encompass dental fluoride treatment, polishing, scaling, routine checkups, X-rays, cleaning and more. Our calculus dentists can carefully remove calcified dental plaque to help prevent gum disease and tooth decay.

Cosmetic Dentistry

If you’re someone who wants to enhance both your smile and your facial features, we can help. We offer a range of cosmetic dentistry services like teeth whitening, injectables, veneers, braces, dental bonding and more. Our staff will tailor your treatments to help you achieve the results you want as quickly as we can.

Sedation Dentistry

We understand that coming for a dental checkup and cleaning in Sydney can be anxiety-inducing, which is one reason we offer sedation dentistry. We’ll help you feel calm and relaxed as we address your dental issues to give you a beautiful smile.

Emergency Dentistry

Toothaches, trauma and facial or gum swelling are all examples of dental emergencies. We offer emergency services for anyone who experiences these symptoms. In addition, we can give you prescriptions for pain relief or antibiotics when we finish with your emergency to help clear up any infection and keep you comfortable.

Orthordontics

Crooked teeth can be a huge source of insecurity for people, and fixing them is a process. We understand that you may not want traditional braces, and this is why we offer Invisalign. We’ll create a series of clear aligners that slowly adjust your teeth into the proper position over 6 to 15 months to give you a bright, straight smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your initial appointment at The TLC Dentist is booked in for 45 minutes with our Oral Health Therapist. This appointment includes:

  • A 3D Full-mouth OPG X-Ray (which is free or GAP-free if you have private health insurance)
  • Two smaller 2D X-Rays to assess your molar teeth in closer view
  • A Full mouth examination followed by a thorough scale and polish clean
  • Fluoride Treatment

Upon examining your teeth our Oral Health Therapist will listen to any concerns you have with your teeth and determine whether further restorative treatment is required. At this time our Principal dentist Dr. Dimitri will come in to meet you and talk you through any X-ray findings, and to discuss the treatment options if any.

Before leaving you will be gifted a dental travel pack that includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash as a thank you for choosing The TLC Dentist

We recommend that every initial patient examination should include X-rays. This allows for your dental practitioner to accurately diagnose any dental cavities, periodontal disease, impacted teeth, or root cysts/abscesses that are not otherwise visible clinically.

If you have had X-Rays taken within the last 2 years at an alternate practice we can request these, and use them for better diagnosis.

Overall, our team highly recommend having up-to-date X-rays for the best treatment and maintenance of your Oral Health.

We accept all Health Funds, and rebates are processed immediately after your appointment by swiping your health fund member card.

NSW Health Government Vouchers, as well as CDBS (Child Dental Benefit Scheme) are also accepted.
